Our children were paid a special visit by three of Manchester City’s future stars yesterday afternoon as part of our continued literacy partnership project with City in the Community.

Academy prospects Eric Garcia, Jeremie Frimpong and Yeboah Amankwah joined our little bright sparks in the library to read Julia Donaldson’s modern classic Stick Man.

The children demonstrated perfect manners upon receiving their special City bookmarks!

Reception and Year 1 students also got a fantastic surprise when our football stars joined them for their PE lessons and showed them how to work better together as a team.

The visit came to a close with an inspirational whole school Q&A session with Eric, Jeremie and Yeboah. The players shared their top tips for success, gave advice for overcoming adversity and explained how school played a major role in getting them to where they are now.

The City stars were so impressed by the attitude and behaviour of Blackley’s stars that they even left us with a signed shirt, which will go up on display in the academy!
