Our vision is to provide high-quality art lessons that inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a rigorous understanding of art.
This is a gallery of our art work that is currently on display around the academy:
Reception children have been reading lots of books written by their chosen author Julia Donaldson. In art the Blue Group made a huge picture of the Gruffalo out of tissue paper and card.
The Orange Group were interested in flags so they looked at the shapes and colours used in different ones. Each child chose one flag and drew a picture of it and then painted it on a piece of material using special fabric paints.
1Lowry studied the work of the local artist L.S. Lowry. They looked at many of his paintings of the people and buildings around Manchester and painted their own.
3 Thomason worked on the topic of ‘Ourselves’. In art they looked at the things that make us unique and sculpted masks of their faces out of clay. They then did a project about their hands and made artwork showing the different techniques used to produce images of their hands, e.g. painting, marbling and collage.
5Garratt’s artwork for ‘Ourselves’ topic focused on faces. First they learnt how to draw a face and did drawings in their sketchbooks and then sculpted their own heads out of clay.
